Visual arts are a great way to get inspired. There are many types of visual arts; photography, paintings, sculptures, architecture, ceramics, even crafts are thought of as visual arts. Films are also included, but for this series, I will be putting that in a category all to itself.
A person can find many ideas from this type of art. Going to an art museum can be very enlightening and also helpful because of the silence. But, if you can’t go to a museum, especially with the pandemic, there are many other ways to find virtual art. One of the easiest ways is to go to a store and just walk around; you will find art everywhere, especially in the decoration area. Another way is going to a library; there are many books out there filled with pictures and paintings. Art is also online, but it is a bit more complicated as you do need to know specifically what you are looking for.
There are many styles of art as well; from the abstract to naturalism. You might get a story idea from one of the classic pieces of naturalism or maybe a piece of powerful poetry from something abstract. There is so much that can come from visual art.
Next week we will go deeper into this type of inspiration and see how to use them to our advantage. As I said last week, it does take practice to find inspiration. Some people can find it automatically, it is like a beacon to them, but most people have problems seeing inspiration in everyday things or in anything at all.
